Academic Programs

Graduate Studies at Assumption College offers programs in Applied Behavior Analysis, Business Administration (MBA), Clinical Counseling Psychology, Health Advocacy, Rehabilitation Counseling, Resiliency in the Helping Professions, School Counseling and Special Education.

Applied Behavior Analysis

  • Enter a field with an increasingly great demand
  • Apply for licensure as an Applied Behavior Analyst in Massachusetts and to sit for the Board Certified Behavior Analyst exam
  • Be confident in your approach by gaining real-world experience through supervised fieldwork
  • Apply principles of behavior to solve socially important problems and improve outcomes
  • Pursue either an applied or research career path – coursework can be tailored to meet your goals

Business/MBA program 

  • Part-time Masters of Business Administration degree ideally suited for working professionals
  • Students take courses in the evenings and may concentrate in one of eight areas: accounting, finance/economics, human resources, international business, management, marketing, nonprofit leadership and professional practice
  • In addition, the program offers a full-time Accelerated MBA for recent college graduates, a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study (CAGS) in Business and the MBA Preparatory Program
  • The MBA Preparatory Program offers a comprehensive set of foundation courses (2 credits each) designed to give those with little or no formal business education the knowledge and credentials needed to enroll and succeed in an MBA program
  • Full-time students interested in the professional practice concentration complete their MBA in 12-14 months with the Accelerated MBA program option

Clinical Counseling Psychology

  • Designed to prepare graduates to meet the educational requirements for licensure as a Mental Health Counselor in Massachusetts and most other states
  • Assumption offers the only M.A. offering a fully integrated curriculum based on Cognitive-behavioral Therapy (CBT) in the United States

Health Advocacy

  • The program’s blended format has been designed with working professionals in mind. Coursework is online.
  • The curriculum combines a broad-based understanding of the field with essential practical expertise that can be applied immediately. As such, it is valuable to seasoned healthcare professionals as well as beginning healthcare advocates.
  • The program aligns with the National Association of Healthcare Advocacy Consultants (NAHAC) standards and best practices
  • It is a singular program: the first Master of Arts in Health Advocacy offered in the region

Rehabilitation Counseling

  • Program offers a 60-credit Master of Arts degree, both on-campus and online, which is fully accredited by the Council on Rehabilitation Education (CORE)
  • Upon successful completion of the academic and clinical requirements, students are eligible to sit for the Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) exam

Resiliency in the Helping Professions

  • Program is grounded in evidence-based approaches that are valuable for career longevity and the professionals’ investment in the “self”
  • Course work in this 6 course, 18 credit program will focus on resiliency cultivation strategies for helping professionals and their clients, students, patients and consumers
  • Broad professional applicability is targeted to increase professional effectiveness for professionals such as, Rehabilitation Counselors, School Counselors, Educators, Social Workers, Mental Health Counselors, and health and wellness advocates

School Counseling

  • An approved program by the Massachusetts Department of Education to license school guidance counselors (Initial Licensure Pre K–8 or 5-12)
  • Access to current and cutting-edge workshops geared toward professional development of School Counselors, Adjustment Counselors, Social Workers and other counseling professionals through the Institute for School Counseling and School Psychology
  • Rigorous, current curriculum that addresses national and state models/standards
  • The School Counseling CAGS program provides students several customized pathways from which to choose

Special Education

  • Program prepares students who seek Initial or Professional Licensure as Teachers of Students with Moderate Disabilities (PreK-8 or 5-12)
  • The Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study (C.A.G.S.) in Special Education: Positive Behavior Support (PBS) provides advanced graduate students with specialized skills that afford more time teaching and less time disciplining
