Fieldwork experience is gained by working or volunteering in natural environment settings in which you can use ABA when working with people. There are certain requirements that need to be met. These include working at a site that allows you to work with more than one person, working a minimum of 10 hours per week related to behavior analysis, being supervised by a BCBA who has completed supervisor training, meets the current BACB supervision requirements, is a licensed ABA in Massachusetts and receiving the minimum percentage of supervised hours per supervisory period. You may choose to gain fieldwork experience by independently working with a supervisor or through university-approved practicum experiences (which include a greater amount of supervision and fewer fieldwork experience hours).
The Behavior Certification Board, Inc.® has verified the following practicum courses toward the experience requirements for eligibility to take the Board Certified Analyst Examination®. Applicants may need to meet additional requirements to qualify.
ABA 700: Practicum in Applied Behavior Analysis I
ABA 701: Practicum in Applied Behavior Analysis II
