Dr. John March, leader in field of child and adolescent psychiatry, writes: "The psychotherapy horse race is over: cognitive-behavior therapy wins."

In a report published in The Journal of Child Psychology and Psychiatry, Dr. John March of the Duke Clinical Research Institute states: "The psychotherapy horse race is over: cognitive-behavior therapy wins." Dr. March authored the paper entitled The future of psychotherapy for mentally ill children and adolescents as an overview of the field of child and adolescent psychotherapy. He provides both a review of the past half century of progress in the field as well as a look into the future for likely developments. He writes that "it is highly likely that the basic outline for psychosocial interventions in 2030 can be found in today's CBT" and "there are simply no serious contenders other than CBT and no prospect that any will emerge."
